The number of trees has depleted over the years because of many reasons including cyclones and other natural calamities. There are no conscious efforts to by locals and the Govt. to increase the number of trees of right type needed. The villagers do not hesitate to cut down big trees for money. It has to be studied in depth as to how forest cover can be increased as it has deep environmental concerns.
